When you visit Walt Disney World, you will most likely take lots of pictures. I live here, and I take pictures every time I visit one of the theme parks! PhotoPass is a great option to add to your ticket, because you’ll be able to get many of the photos that are important to you. That said, don’t rely solely on PhotoPass to get your most important pictures.
When my daughter and I had our Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind preview, there was a PhotoPass photographer on hand. We got in line and she took some great pictures! She also took a couple that were less than flattering. When the ride was over, we decided to take a few pictures ourselves on the side. That way, we were able to check the pictures as we took them, and we ended up with two sets of great (and not-so-great) memories.
Another example is when we visited Mickey at the Magic Kingdom. That PhotoPass spot does not use a photographer, there’s an automated PhotoPass box. While a couple of those pictures were good, sometimes even Mickey didn’t know where to look! We waited over an hour that day, and if the PhotoPass photos were the only ones that we had I would have been upset.
I am not saying to not buy Memory Maker. Some of my favorite Disney pictures ever were taken by a PhotoPass photographer. PhotoPass also includes your ride photos, and it’s the only way to receive MagicShots. I need to renew my Annual Pass soon, and I will be adding PhotoPass.
That said, if there is a once in a lifetime picture that you want, take it yourself, in addition to using PhotoPass. It doesn’t hurt to have a couple of angles, and your pictures are one of the best ways to preserve your memories!
