Only for the Rich?

This won’t be your normal hotel dining room…

Last week Disney released some ballpark prices for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. This was followed by cries of “It’s only for the rich” and “The middle class will never be able to afford this”. I’ll agree that the price quoted is crazy expensive. I won’t agree that it’s only for the rich.

I’m solidly middle class. My family and I are by no means rich. We know what it’s like to panic because the check engine light came on or to have to skip some extras to replace the AC. That said, I’ve been saving for the Galactic Starcruiser ever since it was first announced that Disney was planning a Star Wars based hotel. A little bit here and a little bit there in an account that I use specifically to save for this adds up.

I’m not sure why people are surprised by the cost. It has been estimated all along that the Galactic Starcruiser would cost at least $2,000 per person, per night. Some people estimated it as much as $5,000 a person. If had gone that high, I would agree that it is only for the rich. Fortunately, that’s not the case.

When looking at the cost, you need to remember that it is inclusive. It’s supposed to be like a cruise, except set in “space”. You don’t have to budget for meals, because they are included. Your entertainment is also part of the cost. Galactic Starcruiser is supposed to pull guests into the Star Wars universe like never before. For a super-fan like me, this will be a dream come true.

Let’s face it, Walt Disney World is expensive. Theme park tickets, accommodations, and meals will all add up. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will offer an experience that you won’t find elsewhere in this galaxy. It might not be cheap, but for someone like me it will be worth every penny.
