Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings has announced at a press conference that both Walt Disney World and SeaWorld Orlando will submit their reopening plans tomorrow, May 27, at 10:00am. The plans will be presented to the Orange County Recovery Task Force. Mayor Demings stated that teams have already been to both Walt Disney World and SeaWorld to see if the parks are in compliance with CDC guidelines.
Once the plans have been submitted, Mayor Demings will need to approve them. He will then send them to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for his final approval. When Universal Orlando Resort submitted their plans last week they were approved by the Governor the next day, so things could happen quickly.
There is also some news from Disneyland in California. The Orange County Register (the California version of Orange County) and other sources are claiming the West Coast theme parks will be allowed to reopen in Stage 3 of the state’s four stage plan. It was previously thought that the parks would have to wait until the final stage. No date or even solid month has been given, but it’s hopeful news.
