It’s a brand new Mickey Short film On March 4, 2020, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. That was not all that happened that day. In the nearby Mickey Shorts Theater, a brand new film debuted. It is called Vacation Fun, and that’s a great name, because it is a fun addition to any vacation.
Even the seats are fun! The premise of Vacation Fun is simple. Mickey and Minnie are going on vacation. Minnie is ready and waiting at her house, but Mickey is still packing at his. As he packs, he recalls some of the vacations that he’s taken in the past. Things did not always go according to plan.
I’ve seen Vacation Fun twice now, and I love it. It’s a cute cartoon, and there are plenty of laughs. There is also a heartbreaking moment or two, but everything ends up working out in the end.
There are photo ops as you exit the theater After the movie is over, there is still more vacation fun to be had. As you exit the theater, you will enter a room that has some great photo opportunities. You will be able to put yourself in the middle of one of Mickey’s vacation spots.
While Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway has seen long lines, people are walking right by Vacation Fun. I think that it’s because nothing has been going on inside the theater for a while now, so no one knows that it is there. When my daughter and I went on opening day there was no line, and once the theater opened there were plenty of empty seats. Don’t make the mistake of walking by, because Vacation Fun will put a smile on your face. It’s a great extra that you don’t want to miss out on.
