The Epcot International Festival of the Arts runs each day through February 24. Most (but not all) of the fun is included with your theme park admission. Epcot is a park in transition, and there are lots of construction walls. Because of this, some highlights are in different spots this year. I thought it might be a good idea to quickly tell you where some of these things are. I’m not going to mention everything. You’ll want to wander around the park to make sure you see all of the different booths, artists, and activities. Make sure you pick up a Park Map, Times Guide, and Festival Passport when you enter the park. You will need these if you want to make the most of your time.
The Living Statues are always fun to watch, and it is easy to lose track of time. This year they have moved to Future World East. Walk as if you were going to Mission: SPACE. Go through the breezeway and you’ll see them on your left. When I was there they were in front of the temporary Mouse Gear location.
The Paint-By-Number Mural has moved, but you can’t miss it. Walk towards the pathway that will lead you to World Showcase, but don’t enter the pathway. Turn around. The Paint-By-Number Mural is open daily from 11:00 until 5:00, weather permitting.
The Chalk Art is in the same spot that it was in last year. It’s on the pathway that leads to World Showcase, on the left as you leave Future World. It is blocked off so that no one will walk the artwork it by mistake. (You know that someone would.) The Kids’ Chalk Art has moved to Future World West, on the way to The Land.
The stage for the Community Arts Showcase is in a different place this year as well. Look for the Showcase Plaza Stage on your map, it’s number 28. Walk across the bridge, and then head straight towards the water. You will pass Disney Traders on one side and Port of Entry on the other. This stage is where you will find some of the live entertainment, including Visual Art in Performance with Trevor Carlton, Art Defying Gravity, Dominic Gaudious, Victor Espinoza, and Disney Performing Arts Showcase. There is no shade in the area, so make sure you use sunscreen.
New this year is a wall that is covered with colorful butterflies. This is found on the way to The Land Pavilion, on the Imagination! side. This one isn’t on the map, so I thought I’d mention it. It’s a fun picture opportunity, especially if you’ve ever wanted to spread your wings and fly.
Animation Academy has also moved for the 2020 festival. It now takes place twice a day (12:30 and 1:30) in the America Gardens Theater, and seating is limited. If you’re looking for the World Showcase Events Pavilion, it is located between Canada and the United Kingdom. It’s that large building in the back between the two countries.
If the construction walls at Epcot are getting you down, take a few minutes and stop by The Epcot Experience. This is found in the Odyssey Building, which is that strange shaped structure that is on the weird path near Test Track. The Epcot Experience is not an exclusive Festival of the Arts attraction, but stop by anyway. You will have a sneak peek at the future of Walt Disney World’s second theme park, and it will make you feel a little bit better about all that construction.
