Let me start right off by saying that I love both of the Walt Disney World Water Parks. That said, there is a new water park in Kissimmee that is just a few minutes away from Disney. If you’re looking to cool off and save money on a day off from the main theme parks, you might want to check out Island H2O Live!. It’s located at Margaritaville Resort Orlando.
I realize that you can add water park days to your Magic Your Way ticket. The prices that I am about to quote are instead for single day water park tickets. The prices do not include tax. An adult one day ticket to a Walt Disney World water park currently costs $69, or $64 with block out dates. (The block out dates are from late May through near the end of September; the hottest months of the year.) Children’s tickets for ages three through nine are six dollars less. Tickets for Island H2O Live! are $49.99 for adults, and $42.99 for seniors 62 and older, as well as children under 48 inches. Those are the prices at the gate. If you purchase your ticket online ahead of time it’s $39.99! That’s quite a savings over the price at Disney.
If you haven’t heard of Island H2O Live!, that’s because the official grand opening was on June 21; the first day of summer. The park features several slides, two kids’ areas, a wave pool, and a lazy river. It is also interactive, with opportunities to earn points, add posts to social media, and take lots of selfies. It’s a beautiful park, although it’s not as beautiful as the two Walt Disney World Water Parks.
There is nothing wrong with spending one day of your vacation away from Walt Disney World. Parking at Island H2O Live! is free if you have access to a car. Since the new water park is not far away, it won’t cost much if you need to use a ride sharing service to get there. If you have several people in your travel party, a day at Island H2O Live! could mean significant savings. You’ll be able to cool off and save money at the same time.
