Spur of the Moment Vacation?

When people talk about a Walt Disney World vacation, so much of it is about planning. You need to make your restaurant reservations 180 days in advance. You need to book your FastPass+ choices at the 60 or 30 day mark, depending on where you are staying. You need to know the park hours, so that you will be able to schedule what time to arrive and what time to get back to the hotel. Even though there is usually a lot of planning involved, I think that Disney is the perfect place for a spur of the moment vacation. Here’s why.

Theme Parks

Even if you don’t have FastPass+ for the top rides, you can still have a great day in the theme parks. There is always something to do! There are other rides, shows, movies, and more. Don’t forget that all four parks have unique nighttime entertainment offerings. You can visit Walt Disney World without riding Slinky Dog Dash, Avatar Flight of Passage, or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and still have the vacation of a lifetime.

Leisure

If you’re looking for down time for a spur of the moment trip, Walt Disney World has plenty of options. You can enjoy a spa day, ride a horse, relax by the pool, go shopping, watch fireworks; the choices are endless. A trip to Walt Disney World can make you feel as if you’ve traveled across the globe, but with way less hassle.

Food

Walt Disney World is a food lover’s paradise! There are international choices, as well as signature restaurants featuring creations by celebrity chefs. The best part of all is that you don’t have to go far to try different restaurants and different types of cuisines. You don’t even need a theme park ticket for many of the best restaurants. While some restaurants are hard to get a spur of the moment’s reservation for, there are so many other choices that you won’t go hungry. Last minute is also sometimes the best time to snag a hard to get reservation, because people cancel. If you can’t get a restaurant reservation, see if there is a lounge. That is sometimes a possibility.

Accommodations

Part of the fun of heading to Walt Disney World last minute is to see what is available for hotel rooms. All of the resorts are amazing, and the pools are fantastic. You can sometimes find last minute deals through discount sites, so you could save a little bit of money. Just make sure that you know what you’re getting when you book. Don’t use a website like Hotwire. One of these days I’ll share with you why I will never book through Hotwire again, but for now, take my word on it.

Shopping

If you like to shop until you drop, Walt Disney World has so many opportunities! It’s more than just gift shops. Disney Springs has expanded, and is adding new stores all the time. There are great opportunities in the parks as well. World Showcase at Epcot is another fun place to shop. It’s filled with items that aren’t easy to find elsewhere. Don’t forget your Disney-themed items. You’ll find enough to change your entire home over to a Disney theme if you’d like.

These are just a few of the things that you can do spur of the moment. With the exception of some restaurants, you don’t really need to plan ahead at all. Just book your trip last minute, or head to Florida and see what’s available. You don’t have to live by a schedule to have a great time at Walt Disney World.
