Will the Disneyland Announcement Affect Walt Disney World?

Yesterday Disneyland announced that they will not open on July 17 as originally planned. That has a lot of people wondering if the reopening dates will get pushed back at Walt Disney World. Disneyland’s reopening has nothing to do with Walt Disney World. Here is why.

California is taking its time with reopening. The state is coming up with a plan on what all of the theme parks will need to do, not just Disneyland. Those guidelines will not be released until after July 4. Even if the July 17 date were to be approved, Disney would not have time to get everything ready, including the Cast Members. They do not want to rush the reopening.

Here in Florida, the reopening plans were approved quickly. The state has signed off on them. Many Cast Members are already working again, or know the date when they will return. Things are going full speed ahead. Disney is actively getting the theme parks ready.

There is a petition online that has been signed by thousands of Cast Members. They want to delay the reopening here in Florida because they don’t feel safe returning to work. I haven’t heard of any official word from Disney about the petition. As far as I can tell, it is not going to make a difference.

Numbers are way up in Florida, but things are still opening back up. That includes Walt Disney World. There are extra precautions in place, and if people follow the rules they should be safe. The question is whether or not people will follow the rules. The announcement in California has nothing to do with what will happen here in Florida. It is unlikely that Disney will change the reopening date here.
