Face Coverings Soon to Be Required in Orange County, Florida

Face coverings are a great fashion statement…

Orange County, Florida Mayor Jerry Demings has issued an executive order that covers not only Orange County but also the City of Orlando. Face Coverings will soon be required in any public space. The order will go into effect on Saturday, June 20. Children under the age of two will be excluded. The order will remain in effect indefinitely. Mayor Demings said that they are “buying time until there is a cure or a vaccine”.

Employees in restaurants will be required to wear masks, while diners can take them off when they eat. Mayor Demings has asked for voluntary compliance. If there are complaints about a business, Orange County will look at the options. Exercising is excluded as well.

At the press conference it was reported that there were 316 new cases in Orange County in one day. The positivity rate has risen as well, to over ten percent. The median age for the past few days has dropped to 29.

Mayor Demings also mentioned that he has been in contact with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, suggesting that a face covering order be enacted statewide. In the past 24 hours, Florida has reached a record high, with over 3,200 cases reported in one day.

Most of Walt Disney World is located in Orange County. Part of it is also in Osceola County, which already has a face covering order. The numbers by percentage have been considerably lower in Osceola County than in Orange County. With both of these orders, requiring face coverings is now out of Disney’s (and the other local theme parks) hands.

I appreciate your not arguing about face coverings on Disney Over 50. I’ve said it before, I’ll remove comments on Facebook and Instagram that are against face coverings, but so far there hasn’t been a problem. Thank you for that.
