Characters at the Magic Kingdom

Mickey!

I’ve already shared information about the characters that I’ve found at Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. That leaves the Magic Kingdom! This one is tricky, because it looks like some adjustments have been made since the park reopened, and more are probably on the way.

Piglet and friends

I’ll start with Main Street, U.S.A. This is the most popular spot to see Character Cavalcades, probably because you can get Cinderella Castle in the background. There are a couple of longer cavalcades at the park, including Mickey and friends and another one with several princesses. Shorter cavalcades include Tinkerbell and some characters from the Hundred Acre Wood. (Winnie the Pooh is on a different float.) The cavalcades follow the parade route, so you can also catch them in Liberty Square and Frontierland. Main Street Philharmonic follows the route as well.

Princesses

There could be other characters on Main Street, U.S.A. I’ve twice seen princesses up by the train station. I’ve seen Mickey, Minnie, and other classics there as well. I’ve also seen pictures of characters in roped off areas near the entrance to the park. I haven’t seen any there myself, but it’s worth looking as you start your day.

Anastasia and Drizella

Walk through Cinderella Castle into Fantasyland, and look up once you’re on the other side. You just might see a couple of stepsisters! They are a hoot, interacting with the guests below and reminding people of how beautiful they are. At one point yesterday one of them proposed to a boy who was probably about six years old. He wasn’t sure how to react, but his parents thought it was funny.

Pinocchio

I’ve also seen Pinocchio in Fantasyland. Not surprisingly, he was on the balcony above Pinocchio Village Haus. I’ve seen him there only once, but others have confirmed seeing him in the same spot other days.

Stitch

While sometimes you have to look up to see characters, that is not the case in Tomorrowland. Just walk to the stage that is near Space Mountain. I’ve seen Buzz Lightyear and Stitch there, appearing at different times. This is a picture opportunity, although I haven’t seen a photographer there. The character will pose with people, from a safe distance, of course.

Buzz

The other place that I’ve seen characters at the Magic Kingdom is in Frontierland. Head over towards Country Bear Jamboree and look up to the second story balcony. I’ve seen two of the bears and also Chip ‘n Dale there. I’ve seen videos of Chip ‘n Dale on one of the Tom Sawyer rafts, but I have not caught that so I don’t know if they are still doing it.

Dale

These are the characters that I’ve seen or heard about since the Magic Kingdom reopened. I’m sure I missed something. There is no known schedule for when characters will be out, honestly I think that a lot of it is luck. A good rule of thumb at the park is to look up! If there is a balcony that is easily accessible and offers a good view below, there is a chance that a character could make an appearance at some point during the day.
