What I Actually Used

Even though there was plenty of hand sanitizer dispensers, I’m glad I brought some

A couple of days ago I shared with you what I had in my park bag for my Passholder Preview day at the Magic Kingdom. I thought that it might be a good idea to revisit that post and let you know how I did. After all, things are going to be different for the foreseeable future. I’ll go through the list in the same order as I did in my original post, because I’m a bit of a continuity freak.

We had the Disney masks, but we only wore those for about ten minutes for pictures when we first arrived. They are too small and very hot. We switched over to masks that we bought at Target, two for $4. Best masks that I’ve found so far! We brought some extras, and I had zipper bags in my bag that I marked “Paula clean”, “Paula used”, “Tricia clean”, and “Tricia used”. When a mask got sweaty we’d just switch it out for a clean one. It worked well. I had some disposable masks, but those stayed in my bag.

I used the small bottle of hand sanitizer a lot. There were plenty of dispensers, especially near the rides, but you can never be too careful. Some of the dispensers were a little too far from the place where you would get off the ride for my liking. I kept the bottle in my pocket so I wouldn’t have to touch my bag to get in out.

The sanitizing wipes that I bought at Publix stayed in my bag. I’m going to keep them in there because they don’t take up any room, but I didn’t once feel like I needed them. The Cast Members did a great job of wiping everything down.

I was glad that I had sunscreen. That’s something that you should always have in Florida, even if you don’t usually burn. We don’t normally spend a full day in a park, so sometimes I’ll just apply it at home. We needed it on Thursday.

We didn’t use the ponchos or the waterproof shoe covers. Funny story about those. We went into Pete’s Silly Sideshow for a few minutes, which is a Relaxation Station. The tables are spaced to keep people socially distant, but you’re allowed a break without the mask. A couple of minutes after we sat down, I received a text from a friend who was also at the Magic Kingdom. She said that she and her family were hiding out from the rain. It had been bright sunshine when we entered, and about a minute later there was a drenching downpour. We got inside just in time, with no idea that it was about to rain. After a few minutes, the sky cleared, and the rain had moved out by the time we went back outdoors. I said in my original post that my shoe covers are magical because I’ve never had to use them. I don’t think that I’ll ever take them out of my park bag again!

We used the portable battery pack. We took so many pictures and used the My Disney Experience App so often that both my daughter and I would have run out of battery without it. The one that I used has two ports, so we recharged during Carousel of Progress. I liked the irony that we were charging our phones while listening to stories about the advancement of technology.

I’m glad I packed a small pack of mints. I had them in my backpack’s front pocket so that they were easily accessible. I’ve been buying so many packs of Ice Breakers that I should probably buy stock in Hershey.

A last minute decision was to throw two small bottles of Desani into my bag. We didn’t use them, we just asked for ice water at various restaurants instead. I’ll probably leave those home when we go to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Monday. I was glad that I had water in a cooler in the car. The walk from the Transportation & Ticket Center isn’t that far, but it was a long, hot day!

There wasn’t anything that I should have brought that I didn’t. I’ll make one or two slight adjustments, but overall I was pretty happy with my bag. Even though I don’t live far away, I don’t want to end up having to go home to grab something that I forgot.
