The Tri-State Quarantine Continues

Share
If you’re traveling from NY, NJ, or CT…

Back when Coronavirus cases started to rise in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, many people flocked to Florida. Because of this, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ordered that anyone traveling from these three states self-quarantine for 14 days when entering Florida. It was part of a larger order that declared a state of emergency. He later extended the order, which was set to expire on July 7.

It looks like the executive order has been extended again. I don’t speak legalese, so I am not claiming to be an expert on what is going on. From what I have been able to find out, the self-quarantine order (and state of emergency) now continues until September 5.

For the most part, the self-quarantine is on the honor system. Reports of people being checked upon are few and far between. Still, this could affect your Walt Disney World vacation if you are traveling from one of these states. If you’re visiting from the tri-state area, Disney very well might turn you away. From the Walt Disney World website:

Before traveling to Florida, please make sure that you have reviewed any advisories or restrictions that may be in place for travel to Florida. Visit https://floridahealthcovid19.gov/travelers/ for information. Guests who are under isolation or quarantine orders must not enter Walt Disney World Resort.

If you are traveling to Florida, you might want to check to see what things are like on your end as well. Florida’s numbers are some of the worst in the country, and they continue to rise. More than half of the cases here have been reported in the past two weeks. Because people haven’t been careful here, many states have issued their own self-quarantine orders for anyone traveling from Florida. That makes it possible that you would have to self-quarantine for a total of 28 days.

I haven’t heard anyone ask Governor DeSantis directly about the self-quarantine order in a long time. He has said repeatedly that the state will continue to reopen. He has also mentioned that Universal Orlando Resort has done a great job so far, and that Disney’s plan for keeping people safe is thorough. If I hear of any change, I will let you know.
