What About California?

It’s been harder to find information about Disneyland…

We have learned quite a bit of information about the reopening of Walt Disney World here in Florida. We have dates, we have news about tickets, and some people have hotel reservations. Disney Springs has been reopen for a couple of weeks now, and more stores and restaurants are joining the list of places that are serving guests all the time.

On the other side of the country, we have not heard much about Disneyland. There’s no reopening date, at least not yet, and even the smallest amount of information has been hard to find. I’ve done some digging, and here is what I have been able to find out about what is going on in the Golden State.

California has a four stage reopening plan. Currently much of the state is in Stage 2. The theme parks will be allowed to reopen in Stage 3. There is no date for when they will reach Stage 3, but many hope that it is not too far away.

Some of the theme parks in California have proposed a July 1 reopening date. These include Universal Studios Hollywood and Six Flags Magic Mountain. Both have submitted their proposals to the Economic Resiliency Task Force of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. From what I have been able to find out, the proposals have not yet been accepted. SeaWorld San Diego also hopes for a July 1 opening date.

Disneyland, which is in Orange County, California, has not yet announced a plan. During Stage 2 some indoor restaurants and shops have reopened in the county, but Downtown Disney remains closed. Downtown Disney is a fraction of the size of Disney Springs, so that could be part of the delay. There will be extensive Cast Member retraining ahead of the reopening.

I hope it won’t be too much longer until we know something. I have a trip planned to California at the end of August. I’ll still be going, even if Disneyland hasn’t reopened, but I’m hoping and praying that it will be included in our vacation.
