World of Disney Is Open!

It’s open!!!

World of Disney at Disney Springs is open once again! I can’t tell you what it was like inside, because there was a six hour wait. A Cast Member was taking people’s cell phone numbers and the number of people in their party, and then texting them once it was their turn. Plenty of people were taking advantage of it, and waiting six hours for a text certainly beats waiting six hours in a line. Things were a little bit better at Marketplace Co-Op. The wait was “only” three to four hours. They were doing the same thing there, taking people’s numbers and then texting them.

Otherwise, Disney Springs was not crowded today (May 27). My daughter and I decided to have lunch at the newly reopened D-Luxe Burger. It’s the first Disney-owned restaurant to reopen. They will only accept Mobile Ordering at the moment. There are indoor and outdoor tables available, placed to allow for social distancing. Cast Members were getting the drinks, wiping down tables, and even opening the doors. They all seemed thrilled to be back to work.

Guests today seemed to be paying attention to the rules more than they were when we were there last Wednesday in the evening. I only saw one or two people who were carrying their masks instead of wearing them. I don’t know if that’s because we now know for sure that face coverings will be required at the parks, so they’re giving in. There was also a level of happiness this week that wasn’t there even a few days ago. We now know when the parks will be open again, which means the magic is starting to reappear.
