More Disney Springs Restaurant Reopenings

Chicken Guy! joins the May 20 list

Even more third party restaurants have announced that they plan to be part of the Phase 1 reopening of Disney Springs on May 20. You can read my initial post here. The restaurants added since are:

Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza

The BOATHOUSE

Chicken Guy!

Earl of Sandwich

Frontera Cocina

Planet Hollywood

Since Florida will have moved to Full Phase 1 by that day, legally the restaurants will be allowed to operate at 50% indoor capacity instead of the current 25%. There is no capacity limit for outdoor seating, but tables must be spaced to allow social distancing. I don’t know if the Disney Springs restaurants will go to 50%, or if they will keep it lower for the first couple of days.

Guests and Cast Members will be required to wear face coverings at Disney Springs. Of course people will be allowed to take them off while eating. I also expect that there will be even more hand sanitizing and handwashing stations than when Walt Disney World closed down back in March.

There is one other thing that I want to say. I am not trying to encourage anyone to go out before he or she is ready. We are in unknown territory here, and already too many people have died. Florida has done a much better job of containing the virus than most people expected. I think that is mostly because both Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, and SeaWorld Orlando made the choice to close before they were required to. We don’t want to see the number turn around and head back up.

One thing that I will encourage you to do is to wear a face covering if you go out. While Disney Over 50 is for all ages, the majority of the people who visit my site are 50 or older. That puts many of us in higher risk groups. My husband is a heart patient, which is why he has barely left the house for the past two months. If you go out, whether it’s to Disney Springs, CityWalk, or your local grocery store, please take this seriously. If you don’t do it for yourself, do it for my parents. It isn’t safe for me to visit them right now, and that breaks my heart. If we’re all smart, we will beat this thing sooner rather than later, and I’ll be able to give my mom a long overdue hug.

I know that I just got off topic from Disney Springs a bit. We still don’t know what time Disney Springs will open on May 20. The earliest time that I have found so far is Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC, which seems to be scheduled to open at 10:00 that morning. Since I missed our family’s tradition of getting a goodie from Erin McKenna’s for my birthday last month, I plan to stop by. I hope they have pineapple upside down cake…
