Universal Orlando Resort Survey

Universal Orlando Resort will be closed at least through May 31

Yesterday (May 7) Walt Disney World announced that a phased reopening of Disney Springs will begin on May 20. That made many people immediately question what will happen at nearby Universal Orlando Resort. While there has been no official word, that doesn’t mean that Universal is not trying to come up with a solution.

Universal sent out a survey to some guests

All that we know right now is that Universal will be closed through at least May 31. That much has been announced. Yesterday an email survey was sent out to get a better idea of what guests would be willing to see, and what they would not like. Potential reopening dates were mentioned in the survey, including “after May 31” and “July 1”.

Some of the possible options to requirements to keep people safe

The survey also asked what guests thought about certain measures becoming requirements to be admitted to Universal Orlando Resort. These included the expected things such as face masks and social distancing, as well as more extreme measures like “rapid testing to detect current COVID-19 infection upon arrival”.

Possible benefits were included

While the survey didn’t tell us the ballpark of what Universal Orlando Resort is thinking in terms of reopening, it is nice to see that guests’ thoughts will be taken into consideration. Many people have assumed that CityWalk will reopen on the same schedule as Disney Springs, but that has not been announced.

A shorter survey was sent to some Walt Disney World guests with resort reservations. I did not see this survey, but reportedly it was much more general.
