Still Nothing New

The Grapefruit Garage has supposedly removed some barriers (this is an old picture)

We are all eager to hear some bit of good news about the reopening of Walt Disney World and the other area theme parks. You’ve probably learned some possible dates and heard financial projections. You might also have heard a rumor that the Grapefruit Garage at Disney Springs has taken down the barriers. That means nothing. No matter what you have heard, there is nothing new. There was news for Shanghai Disneyland, but not here in the U.S.

I’ve been watching the live broadcast of the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force a little more than I care to admit. Most of it is fairly dry meetings. Both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort have representatives on the task force. They claim that no decisions have been made, and that they do not yet know a date when the parks will reopen.

This next part I’m going to copy and paste from ClickOrlando.com. That is the website from the TV station that is the local CBS affiliate. You can read the entire article here. According to the article, Thomas Mazloum yesterday said “We do not have any opening date yet, some of you may know at this point we are taking bookings that were in June, that doesn’t mean we are opening in June. At this time I just want to make it clear we do not have any plans to share about Walt Disney World or for that matter any of our parks at this point.” Thomas Mazloum is Senior Vice President of Walt Disney World Resort and Transportation Operations.

I’ve promised that I’ll do my best to keep you up to date here. I know how frustrating this is, especially if you have vacation plans. Phase One of reopening most of Florida began yesterday, but we still have a long way to go. Thanks for trusting me to keep you informed.
