Experience Droid Depot at Home!

Meet Fred

Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a great experience. You get to pick out parts for a droid, then you put it together and watch it come alive. There are a few choices available. It costs about $100, and the remote control droid that you end up with is high quality. The droid will interact with other Droid Depot droids. They have a lot of personality, even if you don’t purchase a personality chip. My daughter and I created a BB unit and named him Fred. I wouldn’t mind going back at some point and buying an R2 unit to keep him company.

Star Wars and Disney have given us a great new way to bring the Droid Depot experience home. There is a brand new app simply called Droid Depot. You can find the download for it here. The app is free. It is easy to connect your droid to the app, and you can customize the experience.

With the Droid Depot app, you can teach your droid to dance. To add to the Galaxy’s Edge feel, DJ Rex from Oga’s Cantina will provide the music for you. Another fun feature is that you can play Tic Tac Toe with your droid. (I’m pretty sure that Fred let me win.) There are other features as well.

If you don’t have a droid, that’s not a problem. There are two different ways to go. You can create a droid virtually within the app. If you would rather have a droid of your own, you can buy one at ShopDisney.com. Both BB-8 and R2-D2 are available, but quantities are limited. You can’t customize them, they are designed after the droids that we all know and love.

I miss Galaxy’s Edge more than words can say. It’s fun to be able to enjoy a small amount of it here at home.
