Special Event Tickets and Refunds

Several dates for Disney villains After Hours have been canceled due to Coronavirus

Special ticketed events can be a lot of fun at Walt Disney World. Unfortunately, things do not always go as planned. What happens if you have a change in plans after you have purchased your ticket?

The Walt Disney World website states that special event tickets are not transferable and not refundable. Of course, there are circumstances when those rules are broken. If something happens such as a hurricane or a global pandemic and the event will not take place, of course you will not be out that money. In most cases, Disney will work with you to find the best solution. Usually that means your choice of a refund, a ticket for another night, a ticket for a different event, or a theme park ticket.

If the event will still be held but you can’t go for some reason, contact Disney. In some cases they will refund the money. This is totally up to their discretion, of course. If you decide that you don’t want to go at the last minute because it’s supposed to rain, don’t expect to get a refund. If you can’t go because of a death in the family, there is a chance that they will work with you. Be honest when you call, they will be able to tell whether or not you’re telling the truth. They’re heard all the lies before.

It is easy to forget that Disney is a business. We all love to experience the magic, but we sometimes forget that it costs a lot to create that magic. If you have a legitimate reason why you need the money for the tickets refunded, it will not hurt to ask. If they say no, remember that you bought a non-refundable ticket. Keep that in mind before you make your purchase as well. If there is a chance that you won’t be able to use the ticket, hold off, unless you don’t mind losing the money.
