The 30th Anniversary t-shirt Can you believe that Star Tours at Disney’s Hollywood Studios just celebrated its 30th anniversary? The ride opened to the public on December 15, 1989. (The Disneyland version opened in 1987.) While the ride was updated to Star Tours – The Adventures Continue back in 2011, you can still find Rex, the original pilot. He’s the first droid in the queue, the one marked “defective”. Rex is also the DJ in Oga’s Cantina. It’s nice to know that he found a job the suits him.
