Sunday Savings Series: A Christmas Deal

Even Gertie is surprised by how good this deal is!

Update: Disney has changed the “book by” date to November 23!

Recently I covered a Christmas in July Media Event. I learned a lot about what is going on at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as the other parks. While I was there, I also had a nice long chat with a gentleman about the Ultimate Disney Christmas Package. It is being offered at Walt Disney World this upcoming holiday season. I could tell that he was a Cast Member who was truly excited about all that the package entails.

Here are the basics of the Ultimate Disney Christmas Package. You’ll stay at a select Moderate or Deluxe Resort from December 21 until December 26. (The dates are not negotiable.) You’ll receive four day Park Hopper tickets, tickets for the last Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, a $50 Epcot Dine-In Card, and the Ultimate Disney Christmas Gift. There are also some extras, such as a reserved viewing area for Epcot Forever and time at Disney’s Animal Kingdom when it’s not open to the general public. I said something about the price, and that was when the man with whom I was speaking got excited. He told me that it can be as low as $199 per person, per day.

I’ll have to admit, that got me curious about whether or not this was really a good deal. I decided to check out the deal myself on the Walt Disney World website. The page for the Ultimate Disney Christmas Package has some examples of the price on there. They used a family of four with two adults, one child between ten and 17, and one junior between three and nine. I decided to use the same criteria. I added each item individually, not as a package. I started with a room at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, which is the cheapest example that is given on the website. I included the room, four day Park Hopper tickets for three adults and one child, and the same for Christmas Party tickets on December 22. The price came out almost $800 more! I then upgraded to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, because the numbers for that are also on the Walt Disney World website. Using the same criteria, the Ultimate Disney Christmas Package saved about $1,500. For fun (because I have a strange sense of fun) I decided to try a Value Resort. I picked All Star Movies for no reason in particular. It was still about $350 more than the price quoted for the Ultimate Disney Christmas Package if you booked at Coronado Springs.

I know that there are other variables that can come into play, so the savings may not be exactly what I said. Still, if you’ve been thinking about heading to Walt Disney World this holiday season, this could be a way to upgrade to a nicer room while saving money. It’s worth looking into. The Ultimate Disney Christmas Package needs to be booked by October 26, and space is limited. The number that you (or your travel agent) needs to call for more information or to book is 407-939-5268. If you decide to take advantage of this offer, please let me know your experience! You can reach me through email, Facebook, or Instagram. I’d love to hear your thoughts, and to learn what The Ultimate Disney Christmas Gift was.
