Star Wars Celebration 2020 News

Star Wars Celebration 2017 was held in Orlando

Star Wars Celebration is the official convention for fans of all things Star Wars. There doesn’t seem to be much rhyme or reason to when and where it is held, although I’m sure that the organizers would not agree with me. The last one was held this past April in Chicago. On the final day of the convention, it was announced that the next Star Wars Celebration would be held in 2020 in Anaheim, CA, although no date was given.

It took a couple of months, but we finally know the dates for the next Star Wars Celebration. It will take place August 27 through 30, 2020. Tickets will go on sale June 21, 2019. If you plan on buying tickets, you will want to purchase them as far in advance as possible. Passes that are good for the entire convention, as well as Saturday passes, tend to sell out early. The VIP tickets have historically sold out in a matter of seconds.

Anaheim Convention Center

Star Wars Celebration will again be held at the Anaheim Convention Center. It features panels, photo and autograph opportunities with Star Wars cast members, special limited edition merchandise, lots of cosplay, and so much more. I went in 2019 when it was held in Orlando, and I had a blast.

I’ll use any excuse to add my picture with Mark Hamill once again!

One thing that is nice about Star Wars Celebration returning to Anaheim is that it will be easier on the fans. The Anaheim Convention Center is right around the corner from Disneyland. There are plenty of affordable hotels within walking distance. From what I’ve heard, there were some logistical problems this past April in Chicago (mainly hotels and transportation), but the Anaheim Convention Center is convenient. Travel to California is also easy, since there are several airports that are not that far away. It is nice to have options.

This is also news for people who are not Star Wars fans, but are planning a Disneyland vacation next August. This is going to be the first opportunity that many fans have to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The crowds in the two Disneyland parks will most likely be at a higher than normal level for those four days, as well as right before and right after the convention.

So much fun

The wheels are already churning in my brain, making plans to attend this fun event once again. When the ticket link is live, and if I find out any more information, I’ll share it here. I’m really excited right now. I called this one. I’ve been telling anyone who will listen (which isn’t very many people) that I thought that it would be at the end of August…
