Major Changes Are Coming to Epcot

Some major changes have been announced for Epcot

Walt Disney World has announced that some major changes are soon going to take place at Epcot. We’ve known for a while about new rides that are in the works, but this is going to be more than that.

The first announcement is the addition of a brand new area for children of all ages. It will be a play area that is meant to resemble a city. It will be located where Wonders of Life used to be. There will be hands on activities, as well as characters. According to Disney Parks Blog:

This innovative, new pavilion is beyond anything we’ve ever created and is completely unique to Epcot,” said Zach Riddley, portfolio executive, Walt Disney Imagineering. “Built on the power of play, it introduces an immersive and interactive ‘city’ where you can explore, create, and interact with some of your favorite Disney characters. This is an experience worthy of our bold vision for Epcot – and another signature element of our transformation.”

The second part of the announcement has to do with the park’s main entrance. There will be new pathways, as well as “sweeping green spaces” and a redesigned fountain. The Leave a Legacy Photos will be moved to outside of the front entrance.

The new entrance explains why Spaceship Earth is going to be closed for an extended period of time. The new play area is expected to be open in time for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary in 2021. No estimated date was given for the new entrance. If you’d like to get a peek at the changes that are taking place at Epcot, stop by Odyssey Events. An Experience Pavilion will open there later this year. When I have more information on any of this, I’ll let you know.
